Honoring the Healer | Whitney B. of KarmaNutra

What is your name and location?

Whitney B. Atlanta, GA

How do you heal people?

KarmaNutra is an organic cold-pressed juice bar that also serves smoothies and vegan food. We consider out version of healing, food...and good food at that!

What type of benefits does your method of healing provide?

We would say that the benefits to healing in this form are not only physical, by improved health and weight loss, but also spiritual and mental. When you choose life through the form of food, you receive life back.

When did you realize that you wanted to heal people/why did you start?

I've been in love with health and wellness since I was a child. This passion was given to me through watching my father and how he also had a passion for the healing power of food and wellness. I rarely ever remember him getting sick or hurt...he always had an abundance of energy and vitality and also seemed balanced emotionally. Later, as I grew older, I realized that all these amazing traits were due to the lifestyle he lived. This is when I realized I wanted to continue this passion that my father had by continuing to educate and share the amazing benefits that health could bring.

Why is what you do so important?

I feel like what we do is important because everyone deserves health and wealth and it shouldn't matter where you are from or how much money you have. These are two things that tend to stop or hinder people from gaining this amazing knowledge. The African-American community as a whole tend not to make a healthy lifestyle priority, and this is a mix between how we are raised and the lack of education when it comes to what we put on out plate.

How does it make you feel when you are healing people?

When I am a part of someone's process to do and be better, I can't help but feel honored.

What are your visions &/or goals?

Our vision and goal is to open up numerous shops in predominantly black communities, where they are truly needed. To become a staple in these communities and build relationships all throughout the city of Atlanta and outside.

Tell us a fun fact about what it is that you do, or something people may not know.

One of the fun facts about me that most people don't know is that in another life I owned and operated a furniture and decor store. I am in love with all things DIY, making something that was once old and broken, new and beautiful again.

In one sentence, what is your message to the world?

If I had to sum up, in one sentence, what my message to the world would be...I would have to say: Live and be the change you want to see.
