These 2 herbs are MAGIC separately. Combined together, they are a magical powerhouse!
I've been dealing with some health issues related to my stomach since August. I took a prescription for 1 month and decided I couldn't do it. The drug I was told to take is dangerous to my healthy (anyone's health)--though my doctor denied it.
Anyways, I'd be looking for alternative healing methods and stumbled on these herbs. I've been drinking a warm infusion 2x/day for 2 months now, along with eating foods that nutrient dense and gentle on my digestive system, drinking chamomile tea, and plenty of water. I have seen a huge reduction in my symptoms and I can feel that I am healing. The foods I was told to avoid I can now eat, and while they don't affect my stomach, I know they are affecting my body in general because I am achier than I've been in a while, but I digress.
Now you do have to be careful with these bc if you are taking medication, these can affect the absorption of the medication. Also, I am not going to recommend or suggest that anyone take this, because you need to do your own research to determine if it's right for you. I started taking this in small doses to see how'd I'd react, gradually increasing my consumption.
Below is a little bit of info I found on another site.
Slippery Elm: "Slippery elm contains mucilage, which is a gel-like polysaccharide. This substance coats the intestines and gives the herb its name. For those who may lack adequate mucosal lining, due to leaky gut, slippery elm provides this protective barrier. However, the herb is not only protective. It’s also high in antioxidants that fight inflammation."
Marshmallow Root: marshmallow root is most commonly used for dry coughs and sore throats, reduction of inflammation, to break up mucous and to kill bacteria. Marshallow root’s polysaccharides give it similar mucilaginous properties to slippery elm. (This quality is also what historically made it suitable for candy-making: the fluff potential.) Additionally, marshmallow root is antibacterial. More recently, marshmallow root is being used to treat ulcerative colitis, ulcers, Crohn’s, heartburn, kidney stones and indigestion. Many who’ve suffered from interstitial cystitis find complete relief from symptoms by using 2-4 capsules of marshmallow daily"
